I’ve worked at TPP for over 10 years as a Technical Systems Administrator. Our main responsibilities are to maintain all office infrastructure including: servers, phone systems, office PCs, networking equipment and mail servers. This infrastructure is key for making sure that the office is fully operational allowing all teams to perform their daily work. As the landscape of technology is constantly evolving and TPP is a world leader in Healthcare Technology, I am constantly evolving and developing new skills to keep up.

The variety of different projects/technologies that I work with daily keep me wanting to come in to work as no two days are ever the same. I’ve managed several projects in my role ranging from the initial scoping of new data centres all the way through to hardware procurement and installation. Working on these projects alongside lots of technically minded people makes you feel supported with any tasks that need completing. The opportunity to learn and develop your skills never stops.

During my time at TPP, I have also travelled to several different countries including China, Qatar, Malaysia & Jamaica. Our main responsibility on these trips is to configure our server and networking devices. I also assisted in a technical capacity for a hospital go-live, it’s really rewarding watching users perform their day-to-day jobs using the infrastructure and software we provide; it really highlights the difference we are making to healthcare globally.

Working at TPP offers some great benefits, such as being able to go skiing. It’s been really enjoyable watching people who have never been skiing before fall in love with it. Leeds also has something for everyone: walks, restaurants, pubs and an abundance of high-quality golf courses.

Leeds Beckett University - French with International Business

I worked in the hospitality sector during my undergraduate studies and pursued this full-time for a couple of years before looking for something more challenging and rewarding. After studying languages and only having experience in hospitality I wasn’t sure if I’d be well-suited to a role at a healthcare technology company, however I realised soon after starting that my lack of experience in the industry really didn’t matter.

There are a large variety of projects that the Service Analyst team get involved with both domestically and internationally. Shortly after starting, I was leading the GPES project which involves the development and delivery of primary care data extracts that provide the basis for UK GP payments and Pandemic Planning and Research programmes. More recently I have been working on international Electronic Health Record projects which involved several trips to both Malaysia and Jamaica.

Problem solving is an integral part of the work we do; we work closely with the Software Developers and Business Analysts to create real-life solutions to problems and implement improvements to our products. It’s extremely rewarding to see the work we do have a positive impact on the day-to-day life of healthcare professionals around the world.

We are all well rewarded for the work that we do at TPP. Within four years of working here I’ve been on several all-expenses paid trips, including sailing in the Caribbean and skiing in the French Alps. We also get regular pay rises, a £300 birthday meal allowance and a bar tab at the pub every Friday.

The Open University - Maths with one year of Law

I studied Maths with a year of Law at the Open University.

I’d previously worked as an Air Traffic Controller, which was challenging but not rewarding enough for me. Once the pandemic limited the number of flights operating, I began looking for something else and stumbled upon the Analyst role at TPP. I liked the sound of it, gave it a try, and haven’t looked back since!

The main focus of the Analyst team is innovation. We manage the strategic developments of TPP’s products in-line with the needs of our users, national policy, and the direction of the company. It’s great to be able to find solutions to real-life problems and combine creative and technical elements to create really valuable solutions for our users. I enjoy the challenging and fast-paced nature of my job and the fact it allows me to be part of the entire cycle of a project, from planning to development to feedback.

There’s a really positive work environment and the teams at TPP are so interconnected, it’s fantastic to feel like everyone’s on board and working towards the same goals. Since joining TPP, I feel as though I’ve really improved my ability to manage relationships and effectively communicate with different people. A lot of this has stemmed from an increase in confidence in my own ability because I was trusted with my own projects very early on. The company operates on a flat hierarchy, which means you’re given responsibility from your first day and you always feel empowered to share your ideas.

I’ve been able to work on such a variety of projects in just over a year of me being at TPP. Most notably, I’ve led on the development of Brigid, our mobile app for clinicians. We worked alongside clinical staff to develop the app and it’s been amazing to have helped create something that is genuinely already making a difference. I also worked to design our system’s bespoke Covid-19 situation report to help frontline staff generate and report mandatory Covid data to NHS Digital, which was a really fulfilling project to be involved in.

I feel like I get a really good work/life balance working at TPP. There’re plenty of things to get involved in at the company, such as football, sailing, and pub trips on a Friday, and it’s nice to be able to relax and get to know colleagues outside of the work environment.

University of Leeds – New Media

After graduating with an MA in New Media from the University of Leeds, I joined TPP’s Communications and Marketing team. The role allows me to get involved with TPP’s operations across the globe and, being a native Mandarin speaker, I’m also able to specialise in dealing with the Asian market.

I really enjoy creative work, and the Communications and Marketing position really satisfies that passion. Every task in my working day is so different – from digital design to video creation, content writing to event management, and collaborating with the different TPP teams promote the company and its products. The work is always varied and never dull. I even get to manage the company’s social media accounts and create press releases in both English and Chinese. I always feel fulfilled after dealing with the challenges that the job brings.

Due to the international nature of the role, I get the chance to explore different countries across the planet. Everyone at TPP is working to deliver better experiences for clinicians and patients, and to transform the healthcare industry positively across the world. It feels great when everyone collaborates towards one clear goal – making the world a better place. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of the job.

It’s genuinely amazing to work here. I’ve learned so much from working with the fantastic people at TPP. Everyone is so willing to help, really supportive, and people truly care about each other. If I ever have any questions, they’ll help to answer them and at the same time teach me how to deal with similar tasks or issues in the future. If I need a hand, they’re always there to help. On top of that, the company benefits and salaries are incredible!

TPP is like a family for me and Leeds has become my second home. For me, Leeds has the best of both worlds; it offers colourful, ‘big city’ life but I can also enjoy the pretty views of the peaceful countryside nearby.

Keele University - Rehabilitation Science

I studied Rehabilitation Science at Keele University.

I loved my degree and time at university but knew that I didn’t want to pursue further education or be in a directly clinical role. After graduating during the pandemic, I wasn’t sure about what jobs would be available or the specific role I wanted but I knew that I wanted to work in a customer facing role in healthcare. The Product Specialist job at TPP stood out as exactly what I was looking for.

As a Product Specialist, I have an extremely varied role. I could be delivering training to users in a community hospital one day or demonstrating the system to potential customers the next. We have users all over the UK and abroad, so I often get to travel the country and have opportunities to travel the world too.

One of my favourite parts of the role is being on-site when an organisation ‘goes-live’ with one of our products. A go-live can present different challenges for new users who are still getting used to the product whilst keeping on top of their daily tasks. By the end of the week, it’s so rewarding seeing what a difference your input and training has made.

Most recently, I’ve had more involvement in the development of our Acute Hospital product. It’s been a challenge to learn how differently each healthcare setting works but I have such a fantastic team who are approachable and provide support whenever it’s needed. Despite my team living in different locations across the UK, TPP makes sure we still have opportunities to socialise and get to know each other and everyone else in the office.

I feel like my role has really helped me to develop my confidence and ability to deal with challenges and I look forward to seeing what it’ll teach me next!

University of Leeds - History

I studied History at the University of Leeds.

After university, I knew I wanted to stay in Leeds but I didn’t want to pursue a career in something directly related to my degree. I wanted to do something more practical instead. I’d worked in healthcare informatics as a student, doing data entry and things like that, and I’d found the sector interesting and rewarding. So, when I found the Analyst role at TPP, it sounded ideal for me.

My main priority as an Analyst is working with healthcare organisations to understand what they’re trying to achieve, the challenges they face, and what they need from an IT system in order to make their lives easier. The role really varies from day to day and is never repetitive so I’m definitely never bored. There’s lots of independence and autonomy in the work I do and I often have the opportunity to get involved in projects I’m interested in. I’ve been trusted to lead on projects since the start, which has really helped to build my confidence. There’s a nice balance of meeting people and engaging with our customers and more technical and design-based work, and I’ve been able to develop lots of technical skills and knowledge that are completely separate from my university degree.

It’s fantastic to work with so many dedicated and clever people and the fact that many teams often work together on projects makes for a really supportive environment. Over the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time working with customers in different countries to establish how to best adapt our software to suit their varying needs. The opportunities I’ve had to travel have been amazing and something I never expected!

Working here offers some great benefits, like being able to go sailing in the Caribbean, which I’d never tried before and was such an incredible experience. It’s also been nice to have been able to stay in Leeds, since there’s so much to do and absolutely loads of great pubs!

Durham University – History

After spending three years with my nose buried in dusty books, I left university relatively naïve to the career options and industries available to me, particularly with regard to IT.
It was refreshing to find the job advert for TPP, as all disciplines and subjects were welcomed and no prior experience was required. Having an arts degree was not a barrier to working in technology. I took the job without hesitation and packed my bags for Leeds. I’ve been here ever since – over 10 years!

We have people here with diverse skillsets from numerous disciplines, which brings a variety of approaches to the work we do. I’m able to apply the skills I developed during my History degree to my work as a Commercial Manager particularly by thinking objectively when formulating a resolution for one of our business needs.

We work in a very fast-paced environment, which is gratifying as you can see the progress being made. Having said that, the work-life balance means you can leave work at the door and enjoy your free time.

One of the best things about this job is how I felt at home almost immediately. Working here has enabled me not only to grow my career but also to travel extensively, put down roots, buy a home and enjoy the community I live in.

Sheffield Hallam Univeristy – Accounting & Finance

I studied Accounting & Finance at Sheffield Hallam University and had no idea what I wanted to do after I graduated. After hearing good things about TPP, I decided to apply and following a super easy application process I was offered the role of Implementation Specialist.

Implementation Specialists are responsible for ensuring that healthcare organisations joining SystmOne experience a smooth transition. We manage the entire migration process which includes ensuring that key milestones are met and that data is migrated securely and accurately. We also get involved with numerous other projects, such as HR, invoicing and contracts to name a few.

Even though I’ve been here for over 8 years, I’m constantly learning new things and developing new skills. Recently I’ve been involved in the migration of an entire Mental Health Trust as well as the migration of an Acute Hospital. I’ve also been involved in various international deployments in Malaysia which has allowed me to travel to an area of the world I never thought I’d get the chance to.

One of the best things about working here is the people. As a company, we are always arranging activities for everyone to get involved with which is a great way of getting to know each other. We also enjoy amazing benefits, such as a £300 birthday meal allowance which I use to treat my family and friends and company courses such as sailing in the British Virgin Islands and skiing in the French Alps!

University of Leeds – Geography

I studied a BA in Geography at the University of Leeds and started at TPP after graduating.

I applied for the Business Analyst role as I really wanted a job in IT but didn’t want to be stuck in an office all the time, so travel opportunities were important to me. My work here allows me to work in a team environment while getting to interact with customers out in the field.

As a Business Analyst, I manage the development of new functionality to customers. My role is to understand what our customers need and then ensure that we deploy a suitable product that will meet the needs of existing and future customers. What’s great about TPP is that I get the chance to see my work making a difference to the world. So far I’ve been involved in great projects like deploying iOS apps to Acute hospitals and getting SystmOne Live at heath centres in the Middle East and China.

Leeds has so much to offer outside of working hours. I love music so regularly attend gigs and Leeds is a great place for watching up-and-coming bands. It has a nice balance between the buzz of a growing city alongside the peaceful and picturesque countryside of the Yorkshire Dales.

Through my work at TPP, I have developed the ability to prioritise and manage a workload. I feel I am faster and more able to identify and resolve issues and I can now talk confidently in public when discussing complex issues. The team I work with is great. Everyone at TPP has a ‘can do’ attitude and I am motivated by our ambition.

Northumbria University - Psychology

I studied Psychology at Northumbria University and, after graduating, went into a sales role. I decided to leave here as I couldn’t feel passionate about what I was selling and realised what I really wanted was a career where I had opportunity to travel and could believe in the product I was promoting. I joined TPP as they were offering everything that was important to me in a career: Travelling, making a difference, and working for an ambitious company.

As a Product Specialist, I travel the country, and the world, delivering demonstrations and training for SystmOne. I am also on-site when an organisation goes live with the system to ensure everything goes smoothly. I’ve provided training and support to units in Saudi, Qatar and China as well as all over the UK.

I love that the work is challenging, that there’s always something new to learn and that I get to see new places all over the world. It’s also really rewarding to be able to be there to support units through the entire process, all the way from the initial demonstration up to their first day using SystmOne.

TPP offers a great training programme for Product Specialists so you never feel out your depth. My team is also full of talented and approachable people so support is always easy to get. I also get a really good work/life balance, even when travelling. The company always tries to accommodate requests, such as a hotel with a pool/gym, so I can keep up with my hobbies.

Leeds Art University - Fashion & Design

Whilst studying in Leeds I always loved how easy it was to get into the city whilst being so close to the countryside so, after working in hospitality abroad for a couple of years, I decided to come back and started looking for a new career. When I came across the Implementation Specialist role that stated ‘no experience required’ in the job description, I was intrigued as I’d never considered a role in a healthcare technology company before and didn’t have any IT qualifications. This paired well with my desire for something challenging and office based so I decided to apply and haven’t looked back since!

I work in a great team, we are responsible for deploying clinical software to various healthcare organisations and Trusts both in the UK and internationally. I have recently been working on the Malaysia project which involves implementing SystmOne in health clinics and hospitals across the country. The initial phase included implementing the system to over 50 sites within eight weeks whilst planning the national rollout across the rest of the country.

The fast paced environment of the office makes it a great place to work as you’re never bored and your working day goes really fast. One aspect of the culture that I really like is the that we all leave work on time every day and, more importantly, we leave work at work. I have never taken a laptop home with me or answered an email out of office hours so I can confidently say that I have a very healthy work-life balance.

Everyone at TPP is enthusiastic about what they do and standards are set high, this makes you feel proud of the work you do and the team you are part of. Since starting I have gained so much knowledge of the industry and developed so many new and existing skills. My confidence in general has also improved; I never thought I’d be so comfortable offering my opinion to a room full of people and engaging in public speaking.

Another great benefit of working at TPP is the social aspect of the job, especially if you aren’t familiar with, or don’t have any friends/family within the Leeds area when you start. I found the company-run activities and events were a great way to get to know people outside of the office and made me feel more at home. Even during the pandemic, we arranged virtual social events such as cooking lessons and quizzes that all staff were welcome to take part in.

University of Leeds – Physics

Being a Developer at TPP means my work is always varied and pushes me to learn new skills and technologies at every opportunity.

We’re all full-stack developers, working on every element of our software. I’ve designed UIs, planned out database architecture and designed APIs. It’s a rich and varied role that sees me getting involved in every stage of the software development process, from white-boarding initial ideas to deploying software to hundreds of thousands of users.

I’m part of a great team. Everyone’s bright and enthusiastic and working towards the same goal. We keep our dev teams free of management bureaucracy so that we’re all able to contribute and collaborate from day one. We always share and discuss our problems and solutions.

Beyond writing and maintaining code, my role has offered me lots of exciting opportunities. This job has taken me around the world – from conferences in San Francisco, to healthcare summits in Shanghai, to sailing in the British Virgin Isles.

But the best part? The software I plan, design, write and deploy makes a real difference to people’s lives around the world. It’s incredibly exciting to know the code you’ve written is genuinely helping to save lives.

University of Cambridge – Physics

I studied Physics at Cambridge University but when I graduated I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I applied for TPP’s internship but, as I had already graduated, I was offered the full time job instead. I’m glad I accepted this offer as I get to work with like-minded people in a fast-paced, yet more focused environment which I didn’t find in internships at other companies.

One of the main differences between studying at University and working at TPP is that my leisure time is now ‘guilt free’, without the pressure of thinking about work on evenings or weekends. Working at TPP also maintains the best aspects of studying at University – it is challenging and interesting, with lots to learn every day.

I have lovely colleagues who are supportive and a real pleasure to work with and this provides an environment where learning to code is so much more enjoyable than learning at University. My day-to-day work involves designing, writing and testing code, maintaining live servers and handling large databases. I’ve had the opportunity to work on projects in China, where I was writing third party integrations, as well as being part of deploying a mental health unit onto SystmOne.

Outside work, I enjoy running and being outdoors. The Yorkshire Dales is really close and easy to get to so the area is a perfect fit for my hobbies. I’ve also had the opportunity to take up bouldering since coming to Leeds – lots of people from work go and there’s a busy climbing community here. I really recommend getting involved if you’re looking for a new and exciting pastime.

University of Oxford – Maths and Computer Science

After graduating from Oxford University with a Maths and Computer Science degree I knew I wanted to go into the technology sector and do something worthwhile.

Working at TPP hasn’t disappointed. I’ve worked on a huge variety of projects including back-end architecture, data migration and new products using programming languages I’d not used before. I don’t just sit at my desk all day – I’ve travelled across the world attending technical meetings and technology conferences.

It sounds cheesy but you really feel like what you are doing is worthwhile, and you are contributing positively to the world we live in. It’s amazing to know that the work you do is benefiting thousands of clinicians and providing better care for millions of patients.

The people I get to work with on a daily basis are brilliant – it’s great to have bright minds working together on a problem. Everyone is really helpful and pulls together in the same direction. We also get rewarded well for the work we do in terms of fantastic salary, perks and benefits.

Newcastle University – Translation and Interpretation

Following my graduation in 2015, I started looking for a challenging and exciting job opportunity that I could apply my language skills to. During my job hunt I came across the Analyst position at TPP. As I was researching the company, I felt right away that this was a place working for a good cause and where I could really make a difference.

After starting at TPP, I felt immediately welcomed into the vibrant and collaborative office environment. We work very closely with different teams to achieve the same goal and strive to make the difference in healthcare all around the world. There are always so many projects going on that you never get bored.

From very early on, I have been given great responsibilities. In my third week I had the opportunity to travel to China, where I took part in meetings with the customers and integration testing in different cities. Having direct experience on site really helped me gain an insight into what we do and the positive impact that it has. For example, I’m currently working on a project creating a healthcare app for patients, which is helping to empower people to manage their own health.

Throughout my career at TPP I have felt genuine excitement about what this job has on offer. I have so much ownership over my work and I am thrilled about the company projects and prospects. In general, TPP is helping me to grow into a more confident person.

University of Leeds – Medical Engineering

I studied for a Masters of Medical Engineering at the University of Leeds. I really enjoyed living in Leeds, so I focused my job search in and around the city. The Business Analyst role at TPP stood out to me straight away – I have always been interested in healthcare, and the role seemed to have a large element of problem solving, which I had enjoyed at uni.

As an analyst, I help design software that is used in a clinical care setting, including GP practices, hospitals, elderly care homes and mental health clinics. I really enjoy the journey of identifying a problem, designing a solution and then seeing a user benefiting in their day to day lives because of a change that I designed to SystmOne.

I work with people from across the different teams in the company, and it’s great to work together to tackle and solve a problem. Everyone is approachable and genuinely cares about the job they are doing and doing it well, and that comes across all the time. The company is great at looking after people’s interests outside work and ensures everyone has a good work/life balance, processes are fair for everyone, and will change things that aren’t working instead of just going along with things because ‘that’s how it is’.

In the last few years, I’ve worked on a variety of projects and been able to travel a lot – as Analysts, we are typically abroad for several weeks a year. My first international project was in Saudi Arabia. More recently, I’ve been working with a group of health centres in Qatar. I have worked with the doctors, nurses and administrative staff to adapt our functionality for the Qatari healthcare model. We have managed to help them go almost entirely paperless and introduced efficiencies that have saved days’ worth of work every month. It’s been great to go back out and hear their positive feedback. It makes the work I do really rewarding.

University of Sheffield – Biomedical Science

After graduating from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Biomedical Science, I had no idea what kind of job I wanted to throw myself into. The one thing I was sure about was that I wanted to avoid lab work at all costs as this was an aspect of the course that I really didn’t enjoy. I came across TPP as it was listed as one of the top graduate employers and I was lucky enough to be offered a job prior to completing my final year which took a lot of stress away around exam time. The company was exactly what I was looking for as I’ve always had an interest in healthcare, especially given my degree, I just didn’t know how my career would tie into it.

Within my role as an Account Manager I am responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with customers all around the world; from the north of England to countries in Southeast Asia. Going to new places and meeting new people plays a massive part in this and I’ve found that this has allowed my confidence to increase a considerable amount. I feel that I’m constantly kept on my toes as there are always new challenges to face and different projects to get stuck in with. Some of the recent projects I’ve been working on have involved meetings with international health ministers, presenting to governors from China and travelling to Bali for a digital healthcare event.

Overall, I was keen to take on a role that was varied and challenging with plenty of opportunities for international travel all whilst allowing me to develop my professional skillset. Since starting in 2021, I can happily say that the job has surpassed my expectations in all these areas.

Aberystwyth University – Computer Science

I started working at TPP straight after completing a Computer Science degree at Aberystwyth University. I have always been interested in all aspects of computing, from building computers as a kid to maintaining databases for university societies. I have learnt so much more since starting at TPP. In any given week I could be looking at networking, databases, server hardware or scoping an international data centre for a new project.

A major part of the Technical Engineer role is ensuring our systems are up and running all the time. This involves looking after one of the largest real-time databases in the world. It’s very satisfying to know that our work is making a difference for millions of people around the world.

Northumbria University – Psychology

After graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Clinical Psychology, I knew I wanted a job that contributed to improving patient outcomes. As a Service Analyst we work closely with our customers, supporting the doctors and nurses that rely on our products in providing exceptional care. We also gain insight into how they use the system so that we can continuously improve the service that we offer.

The dynamic nature of my role keeps each day both challenging and rewarding. My team is engaged in a number of tasks and projects, ranging from building reports to gather crucial data for NHS England management and payment initiatives, to creating performance monitoring reports to evidence that Service Level Agreements are met. I am also involved with internal and external ISO audits which ensure that we are compliant with ISO requirements, company policies and contractual commitments.

My role at TPP has provided the opportunity to travel internationally on multiple occasions. Recently I have visited Malaysia, where I assisted clinical teams in implementing SystmOne and supported them throughout their go-live. Witnessing the positive impact our products have on clinicians and patients worldwide demonstrates the importance and impact of the work we do collectively.

The best thing about working at TPP is being surrounded by such incredible people. I have gained so much confidence from working within such a supportive team and the company as a whole is very sociable, so your colleagues soon become your friends outside of work. There are also some amazing company perks, from an early finish on a Friday with a paid bar tab at the local pub, to travelling across the world to sail around the Caribbean islands or ski in the French Alps!

I have worked for TPP as a Product Specialist since 2008. I love my job as I have an extremely varied role. One week I could be delivering end-user-training to a pharmacist in China, and the next I could be demonstrating to a roomful of hospital consultants. I travel all over the world and get to visit some amazing places.

We have such a fantastic team, who all share in the same passion and vision for the company. With this job, I have become a lot more confident and able to present to large groups, which is something I thought I’d never be able to do.

University of Cambridge - Maths

When I started the internship, I was amazed at how quickly I was writing code that went out to real doctors around the world. I spent much of my summer writing code to allow clinicians to record COVID booster vaccinations which couldn’t have been more current and relevant.

Starting a coding job can be quite daunting, especially when you don’t have much coding experience, as I didn’t. Fortunately, everyone at TPP is very willing to give you a hand whenever you are stuck as there is a really great culture where everyone is encouraged to ask for help. This helps you get up to speed fast and means you don’t spend hours on end feeling stuck on the same problem. You are working with experienced staff from day one so someone is always on hand to help you find a solution.

The internship was also great for getting to know the company as a whole – you meet people from all the other teams in both a work and a social setting. Going for a pint on a Friday and playing football midweek with other people from across the office were great ways of getting to know people, and really helped me settle in.
